Burkina Faso Mboka Liya, as a former Wenge Musica member played and contributed to several hits of the famous group. Being one of the most renowned guitarists from Congo, he gained vast knowledge on playing and composing in the guitar style of his country. Now, he is sharing this knowledge with you in form of his new DVD series.

These tutorials below are the best suited for guitarists who already have experience, but would like to learn the Congolese guitar playing technique. By watching the videos, they will be able to follow what Mboka Liya is doing and learn the characteristic themes. As the videos contain few explanations by word and cover advanced techniques, they are less suitable for people who are beginners at playing the guitar. However, in case they have a guitar tutor of any style, by the help of them they can also master everything that are shown in the videos.

On this DVD that is the first volume of his guitar tutorial series, Mboka Liya teaches you the essential techniques behind some classic Congolese solos. In every video, first he plays the guitar parts at normal tempo, then he plays every part slowly, step by step. This way students can properly inspect every move he is doing. Though he mostly focuses on solo parts, some basic introduction to corresponding rhythm guitar themes are also included.... There are mostly demonstrations in this video with very few explanations, so in case you are a beginner guitar player, you may need to ask the help of your guitar tutor of any style to be able to follow what he is doing. Experienced players will have no difficulty to follow any steps. Mboka Liya is back with the next DVD in the series. On this one, he continues with even more hits of Wenge Musica. The new volume features another 6 songs of the classic era of the band, namely: Masampu, Etepe Buengo, Coco Madimba, No Comment Schengen, Daddet, La Vie. The method of the lesson is same as on the first disc, every song is played fully first, then everything is demonstrated at slower speed. Mostly solos are shown, but sometimes directions to main rhythm lines are added as well.
